First XR action in Reigate.
We’ve given out flyers and newpapers, but this was definitely more eycatching!
Why: Reigate has 2 Air Quality Management Areas where nitrogen dioxide levels are dangerously high and require monitoring. Reigate and Banstead also have a bad record on carbon dioxide pollution (second worst in Surrey after Guildford) and has the highest number of deaths attributable to air pollution. Bad news.
So on 26th February a good number of rebels walked around the Reigate one-way system making an impact and handing out flyers about the issue. Provoked a lot of positive interest.
And made it into the Surrey Mirror…
Not many people know the air in Reigate town centre has been so bad it required AQMAs.
Things can only get worse when J8 of the M25 gets ‘improved’.
A great first action in Reigate
