In July 2019, Surrey County Council declared climate emergency. Two months later, they gave the go-ahead to plans for four more oil wells and 20 years of production at Horse Hill, near Horley.
To highlight the dangers of more oil drilling in a time of climate emergency, there will be a peaceful demonstration on Saturday, 26 October 2019 from 10.30am to 1pm, organised by Horse Hill Rebel Alliance, a collaboration of climate campaign groups.
Meet by 10.30 at the junction of the A217 (Reigate Road) with Horse Hill (opposite the Black Horse pub). We will walk to the drill site for a rally with speakers at 12 noon.
Please bring:
- banners, placards, flags
- your friends and families
- your smiles
There will be tea and coffee and cake.
If you can assist with stewarding, teas and coffees, or publicising this event, please contact horsehillrebelalliance@protonmail.com
Getting there
There will be a shuttle bus from Horley station to the meeting point. Or get the 100 Fastway bus from Gatwick Airport to Povey Cross, then it’s a 15 minute walk to the meeting point.
