Earth passed judgement on the SCC Pensions Commitee

Our own green handmaid “Earth” made an appearance at SCC pension fund committee meeting, following 6 questions by supporters of Surrey Pension Act Now, who are calling on Surrey County Council to divest the Surrey Pension Fund – £151 million invested in fossil fuels.

Earth did not ask a question but instead passed judgement  and presented the board with a dead flower.
This follows a week of email-bombing the board on this issue – the meeting were told that each of the 63 emailers would receive a reply. Among other points, the committee made some commitment to clarify its terms regarding promised increased efforts to ‘engage’ the fossil fuel companies they have invested in, and established that this policy of ‘engagement’ over ‘divestment’ needed qualifiers.
